About the speaker
Laszlo Tihanyi is the William Alexander Kirkland Professor of Strategic Management in the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University. He received his PhD from Indiana University. Before joining Rice, Tihanyi was the Roberts Chair in Business at Texas A&M University. He held visiting positions at Duke University, Indiana University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, the University of Groningen, and the University of Melbourne. He teaches courses about international corporate governance, stakeholder risk management for MBA students, and organization theory for PhD students.
Tihanyi’s current research explores the involvement of institutional investors in foreign direct investment, the institutional environment of internationalization decisions, and the effects of social movements on multinational firms. His papers have been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, and others. He is a former editor of the Academy of Management Journal.
