The annual event, sponsored by the Ivy College of Business, celebrates the Greater Des Moines business community.
More than 600 business professionals filled the Capital Square atrium for the Business Record’s 2025 Book of Lists Unveiling event on January 9 in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. Published annually in January, the Book of Lists is an essential resource guide for business professionals in central Iowa, with lists of businesses across more than 70 industries, a community calendar, market research, and more.
The Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business was the presenting sponsor for the ninth year in a row. The sponsorship helps the college:
- Increase our visibility in the Des Moines market.
- Highlight our classroom space in Capital Square.
- Promote our professional programs.
- Network with alumni, business professionals, and key stakeholders in Des Moines.
The event brings together business and community leaders and Iowa State alumni and friends. Ivy College of Business Raisbeck Endowed Dean David Spalding provided remarks during a brief program.
Chris Conetzkey, group publisher at Business Publications Corporation, announced the top five most influential nonprofit organizations and business leaders, as voted on by Business Record readers. ChildServe was voted the Most Influential Nonprofit Organization. Dan Houston (’84 marketing), executive chairman of Principal Financial Group, was voted the Most Influential Business Leader for the seventh year in a row. Houston has served on the Ivy College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council since 2004.
