Earn a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree at the same time

Initially, I knew my master’s experience would push me further than my undergrad did. Once I began, I found that the team-based format was very interesting and has been beneficial. It taught me how to work cross-functionally in a team.

Undergraduate students can begin a master’s degree before graduating

Undergraduate students at the Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business can begin working on a master’s degree before graduation. There are many options, called concurrent degrees.

Concurrent degrees help students complete a master’s degree faster by sharing up to six credits between the undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Elizabeth Riniker, who is enrolled in the concurrent MBA program, decided to pursue a master’s degree after realizing she wanted to add more business knowledge to her animal science degree.

“I wanted a well-rounded education to provide more insight for my future career,” she said. “I also wanted to have the opportunity to move up faster in my career. When I looked at the MBA program, I realized it was the perfect way to attain these goals.”

The concurrent MBA program is meeting her expectations.

“Initially, I knew my master’s experience would push me further than my undergrad did. Once I began, I found that the team-based format was very interesting and has been beneficial. It taught me how to work cross-functionally in a team,” Riniker said.

Her advice to other students is to go into it with an open mind. “You never know who you’re going to meet or interact with. Also, time management is crucial to your success in the program because of how fast-paced the courses are,” she said.
