Star Entrepreneurs on Digital Platforms: Heavy-tailed Performance Distributions and their Generative Mechanisms

This paper shows that exceptional performance by entrepreneurs on digital platforms is not driven only by the rich-get-richer effect; late entrants with high customer accumulation rates in domains with high knowledge intensity can become star entrepreneurs.
